Gav Coughlan – Epilogue

Ciarán Hughes has clipped Gav’s section from his video Epilogue and given us a couple words about it. Watch the section below and then click HERE to watch the full video again!

“Gav is one of the best people to go skating and filming with. He might give out about Dublin not having many spots, but he’ll just go there and do the best tricks anyway. Filming with him can go one of two ways; you can either float around with him and randomly hit some spots or he can plan out a detailed timetable that makes the most of the light, the spots and weather conditions to maximise the probability of getting clips. Either way, he stacks.”

Gav Coughlan – Switch 360 Flip

On a recent long weekend trip to Dublin that resulted in a bunch of gypsies throwing 24 eggs at us at one spot then a telescopic baton being pulled on us by a junkie at another. Obviously in between these initial signs of insanity there was some serious hammers dropped. After being moved on by security from the ledge spot at UCD we crossed our fingers and tried our luck at the 7 which turned out to be an uninterrupted session, apart from the lads who seemed a bit too keen on telling us about their penny board skills.

Gav Coughlan A to B on the Ride Channel

Gav Coughlan has a new edit up on the Ride Channel. Check it out below, filmed and edited by Phil Harvey.

Gav Coughlan – Frontside Ollie

After our long epic journey round the Westside of Ireland we decided to end it with our first skate park of the trip at the new location of the Wreckless skatepark in Gorey. The park was in the final process of being finished when we arrived so we stayed out of trouble and got this snap on the vert wall.

Wreckless Skatepark is now back open and the main bit of the skatepark, with the mini ramp soon to follow. Good work from Grant and the rest of the team getting it back open in time for the coming winter!

Gav Coughlan – Switch Crook

On one of many past vacations down to Dublin in search for hammers, we where sadly on this occasion brought down by the swift hand of johnny law at nearly every photo opportunity we encountered. With our hopes and our patience put to the limit we resorted to skating the street corners and the inevitability of pissing off the general public that comes along with it. We located ourselves at this rail closely placed next to a shops shutter which was thankfully closed so full advantage was taken.

IADT Skate Society Room

Being the first day of Spring in casa Gav’s, our valid hopes that the winter months of soggy clothes and skin peeling wind were surely behind us now, we awoke in eye rubbing disbelief to snow showers covering nearly everything in sight. With the feeling the day was over before it had even started we finished up our fry ups, tucked our shirts in and braced ourselves for the impending cold. We met up with the lads and made our way to a place referred to as “the room”. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived there but was just happy we had somewhere to skate. With Phili rolling up in his van and his homemade ledge on hand the session was in full swing. Mini ramp, kickers, ledges, manual pads, rails, you where spoilt for choice on things to get creative on. With things being so easy to move around and everyone constantly killing it, we got down to shooting some photos.

Gav Coughlan – Hardflip

I taught Gav how to do hardflips back in 2004. He will never admit to this. I don’t care because he’s still doing them in 2015. No thanks necessary Gav.
